[5in5] 2012 Day Five

Our Hope

There is power in the Name of Jesus
And salvation from His mighty hand
Every man will bow one day and tell it
Every eye will see the glory of the Lamb

No one knows the hour of His coming
So expectantly we watch and wait and trust
His Spirit is upon us to deliver
The captive, poor, and broken-hearted ones

I don't hope
In this life
In this haze
Of what will be

I was made
For true life
I was made to be
Pure and holy
Standing in the wake
Of glory

[5in5] 2012 Day Four

By Way Of Reminder

Your Word never fails
Your face is beautiful
You never, ever change

You are my righteousness
You purchased my salvation
You always love me

You always work on my behalf
You know my hidden ways
You set my feet on solid ground

You strengthen the weary
You promise us peace
Your voice is charged with power

You cause the sun to rise
You call forth songs of joy
You uphold all things

If ever I forget or lose my way
Remind me of this song I sing today

[5in5] 2012 Day Three

I always have this sadness for people without Jesus...how would they ever know if the choices they were making were right or not? Wouldn't they have to live second-guessing themselves all the time? And then if something went wrong, there's no hope of staying the course and seeing things turn around, because who knows if that's what you were supposed to do anyway!

But as Christians, we don't have to know those fears. Our job is just to hear God and obey Him. Then we can walk with confidence that we're doing the right thing, no matter what the outcome might be. If things start to go south, we don't have to be bothered or confused, because the direction was God's, who knows and sees all, and not from our own limited viewpoint. That's what I tried to express with this song.

P.S. I think the chorus sounds like another song, maybe an exact copy, but I couldn't ever place it and it was 2:00am so I left it. Sorry to whoever's song I copied if I did, in fact, copy. : )

Edit this morning: it's the song "Bubbly." Rats. And sorry again!

I Don't Know

Maybe it's a mistake, maybe it's okay
Maybe I shouldn't but I do it anyway
Maybe it'll turn out right, but you never know
This time I think I'll stay, next time I'll go

Toss a coin, make a choice
Who's smart enough to know

Where should I go
What should I do
Who do I love
What do I choose
I don't know how I'd know on my own
This one or that
Dog or a cat
Museum or zoo
Yahtzee or Clue
Big or small, I take them all

To the One who made me
He knows what He had in mind

Where I should go
What I should do
Who I should love
What I should choose
I don't know how I'd know on my own
This one or that
Dog or a cat
Teak or bamboo
One lump or two
Big or small, I take them all to Jesus

[5in5] 2012 Day Two

This is the best I had today. Now I'm gonna go back and listen to "Like A Vagabond." Tomorrow is new!

You Loved First

We didn't want You, but You chose us
We wouldn't hear You, though You called us
We'd turn our face away and still You'd say,
"You can trust Me"

But when You saved us from the darkness
When You set our feet on a rock
In those times we learned how the tables turn
When you've been given a love freely given

And now we choose You, 'cause You chose us first
And now we seek You, 'cause You sought us first
And now we love You, 'cause You loved us first
Oh, You love us

You still seek us, now we're seeking
You still choose us, now we're choosing
You still love us, now we're loving
It's as wonderful a thing
Can be

And now we choose You, 'cause You chose us first
And now we seek You, 'cause You sought us first
And now we love You, 'cause You loved us first
Oh, You love us

For our darkness You gave us marvelous light
For our blindness You gave us perfect sight
And now we love You, and it's because
You loved first

[5in5] 2012 Day One

I have to say, this song cracked me up the whole time I was writing it. I couldn't wait to put all the goofy ideas I had down and try them all out. It still makes me laugh when I listen to it. I love this song! Obviously, it's based in the verse in Proverbs about hard work, and I wanted to apply that to working, not just for food or to ward off poverty (although I'm all about avoiding poverty), but toward our dreams, too. They don't happen all by themselves! Hope you all enjoy.

Like A Vagabond

Like chasin' after rainbows for the pot of gold
Like Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus and Rudolph's nose
You know you'll never find it when your eyes are closed
No, no

Gotta dream with eyes wide open

A little sleep, a little slumber
Little foldin' of the hands to rest
And poverty will come upon you
Like a vagabond, I tell you

Talk is cheap and work is hard and hope is gold
A dream is just a dream until a hand takes hold
And though the work is hard somehow it feeds the soul
Oh, oh

You gotta take steps to get there

Take us there, Skitch!

Alone in my Principles

Elijah was a man of God who had a real hard time

Queen Jezebel was on his trail, he was runnin' for his life

He met God at a mountain cave and told Him what he thought

"I'm the last one left who loves You and they're gonna kill me off"

Oh, what Elijah didn't know

He was only one of seven thousand or so

Though it seems the whole world goes the other way

And all the courage you've got is spent to make you stay

One thing to remember as you walk this Way

You may feel a little cynical, but you're not alone in your principles

For Abraham the Promised Land was good enough to go

His faith became his righteousness, the Bible says it's so

And Abel, Enoch, Noah, and the rest Hebrews records

They were longing for a city whose Builder was the Lord

Oh, what the heroes never saw

One day, together, God will show us all

Though it seems the whole world goes the other way

And all the courage we've got is spent to make us stay

One thing to remember as we walk this Way

We may seem invisible, but we're not alone in our principles

Surrounded by a cloud of witnesses

Let us throw off all entanglements

And fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author of our faith

And run our race, let's run our race

So friends, now be encouraged when you feel like giving up

Remember those who've gone before and walked the road you walk

It's not about how much you do or who makes less mistakes

It's the heart that perseveres until the end that will be saved

Though it seems the whole world goes the other way

And all the courage I've got is spent to make me stay

One thing to remember as I walk this Way

It may seem incomprehensible

You may think it's astrophysical

But believe me - it's statistical!

I'm not alone in my principles

Day 4: How Majestic is Your Name

That's Jeremy coughing at the beginning of this one. And, yes, I learned to play guitar in order to record this song. (Just kidding. Matt Shipman told me to say that. I think he's embarrassed that it's a little country...) : )

How Majestic is Your Name

You have set Your glory in the heavens

Through the praise of children You still the enemy

And when I think of all You've fashioned

By Your loving hand I stand in awe of Thee

O Lord, our Lord

How majestic is Your Name in all the earth

O Lord, our Lord

How majestic is Your Name in all the earth

God, I see Your glory in the heavens

The moon and stars which You have set in place

Then who are we that You would notice

And care for us and give us victory

Seeking Song

The verses of this one are in first person, and the rest is in third. I don't know; can you even do that? Well, I only had a day, so it is what it is for now. :) But seriously, can you even do that?

SEEKING SONG

I will seek You, knowing I will find

With all my heart, with all my mind

I am longing for a glimpse of You

Fill up my soul, make all things new

Take us past the busy places

To Your throne room where Your grace is

You are high and lifted up

You're the everlasting God

Alone be praised

As we cry out to Your Name

Draw me nearer, let this world grow dim

I won't hold back, let praise begin
